I was with my client, and need to reintall his system. He was using MS Office xp, but I have seen many files came from his manager were made in MS Office 2007. My first question was with my client, if he wants to update system. He said it would be difficult, but I insist him to update. Life needs to change whatever changes take you, but new technology and new things automatically penetrate in your life, either you allow them, or remain at old age, but if where ever you go and find that other person is using latest version what you will.

Changes are difficult to adopt
Although to be true, I am also old life lover, changes and going a head, is not my life style, I remember when I was using windows 3.1 (very old version many even does not know about it existence) so windows 95 arrive and I have to trouble on client machine, You would not believe that I told guy to change it previous version, as this new version impossible and not good for his machine due to slow performance. And in those days I even for more than many years remain on old system, but when windows 98 arrive, I have to use it, as everybody wants new operating system. I know many people even don’t remember those operating systems. But I really did not used windows 95 much. May I never install it, but windows 98 I have to become again master of it, and did million installations and trouble shoots.
My feelings were same for xp but when windows vista and 7 arrive I am changed, now I think we all have to change ourselves life need to be revised and new things need to be change. Today when I buy any used machine for my clients, all I have to do ensure it will run xp or even in slow mode windows 7, lower than that I never buy or recommended it. Just try to be on side.
New soft wares are very advance and optimized to help you work quickly. They are also very flexible and easy to learn. Of course choosing moving for fast systems is very difficult choice, as human nature change is always difficult for humans. But marketing companies and software companies with hard ware companies are always looking for buyers and they have to run their business too. So whole world follow them.
At last I have purchased latest Microsoft office 2007 for my client and installed it. But definitely I have to assist him little bit, as first opening of this office is real night mare. Specially without menu and a ribbon leave people in space without help anywhere. So few tips are required for them to make them little introduction to software. So I realize I must have my blog, But as being support company, I did not left him alone, and I have assign one special section of Microsoft Windows 2007. Microsoft Office 2007 : Tip #1 Installation
Basically installation of Microsoft Office 2007 is very simple. Just drop cd into your computer, and it has auto start enabled, will run setup automatikcally, than ask you about installation next – next – accept license – next and Untill you take your mug of coffee, you have complete suite of Office package. It install all default configuration. And it is ok to have this configuration unless you are really short of space or something and want to do custom installation
Preparing for installation
Most of time we installation latest software specially office when we don’t have one, so there is no much preparation required, but if you have an old version and have already old office 97/ 2003 /xp or similar than probably you may want to consider few options. Office installation have both new installation and upgrade options. So you may upgrade your office, remember to consider about your data backup as being safe side. Normally latest windows xp save all your documents in my documents, which office does not have to do anything. But for my most important thng to consider is Ourlook express. If you are using outlook express, it is really messed up in office. As it is part of office but it has been part of operating system too so possibility you may Outlook Express / Outlook 2003 or Outlook xp etc so when you install Office 2007 it give you latest outlook too. Different version of office react different some leave old outlook express untouch and install new one, so user may have been two different outlooks. I have my user who have complainting that he sometime gets different email and sometime different. Surprisely he was using two different versions from start menu outlook 2003 and from desktop Outlook express and he was also running both with one email account. Remember if you have outlook express let it remain their, and in Outlook 2007 go in import email options and import all data.
Rest if you are really professional and have done fin tunings of dictionary, margins, template and any other stuff, and want to keep them, than it is advice to backup your data.
In past MS office has always cared about file format and most of time they were very compatible with each other. But in 2007 they are using new extension and new format, so it will open old format but newly saved files will require some work to be used in old versions.
Another scenario not advice, but choice let the old version remain in system and install new office as fresh installation. Than you may have both offices so you may also use old version. But I am against of this, we need to go further and just forget old stuff, but in case you don’t like new software than this is also scenario to be considered.
Just few advices to have good installation
If you are installing it on laptop ensure you plug in electricity and not running on batteries
Perform all virus and spyware scanning and clean if any infection found. I recommend also to see control Manager – Add/remove software and see if any useless software needed to be removed
If you have time it is better to update your system
Finally check your hardisk for erros by running check disk. Click on start and then run type CHKDSK.
Back up your data
It is always good and wise practice to backup your data before doing any new installations in system. I will recommended to schedule ftp or cd backup regularly, to avoid any inconvenient caused. In current era of information data is something very important, hardware is cheap but your data is very expensive and it can ruin with one simple mistake. So always keep one backup safe side, and always do it regularly.
If you have just installed software, you must ensure that you are using genuine software. Pirated software are both bed for religion and personal inner conscious. Normally when you get windows you also get serial number, but putting serial number is not sufficient. You also have to activate which is only possible when you are on internet or you may use telephone instead for offline. Just activate and software will send hash of machine and serial to be activated. After activation you have optional choices to register, which is much better. Remember in process of Microsoft Office activation no personal data is not sent, only hash of your computer is sent via software. Microsoft Office is per user, so activation gave control of use of software, as pirated software is everywhere.
My personal advice if you are using Pirated MS Office, than stop it and remove from system, try Open Office it is also nice software and completely free which make your soul also free.
Minimum requirement of Microsoft Office.
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or later like windows visat/7 or Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or higher.
Computer and processor: 500 mg hertz processor of higher with 256 megabyte RA M or higher and DVD driver.
Hard Disk: 2 gigabytes for installation
Monitor: 1024 X 768 resolutions or higher is recommended. But 800 X 600 will work if needed.
If you are like me and wish to use Contact Manager than you need at least 1 GHz and 512 MB ram.
